We are still wating on a baby around here. The good news is that I’m incredibly organized right now. I’m keeping the house picked up, laundry done, back pack packed and food prepared JIC I have to leave home for a few days. I know there is a lesson here. I should keep this up all the time but life does get in the way and most of us believe we will time.
What if we don’t? What if you faced a crisis right now? How ready would you be? I have a list of the things I need to see to. That solar hot water system, the updated food storage, the expanded greenhouse system, the summer kitchen, the earth oven, all are projects I have planned. I think that this is summer to get to them.
I have really missed my comments. I look forward to hearing from all of you. You keep me entertained and motivated, energized and informed. I hope the next time I post, I will be telling you all about my new grandbaby.

I think a lot of people are thinking the same way these days. Isn’t it wonderful that you know a small miricle is about to happen among all the busyness and worry going on. Best wishes to you and the parents!

Good luck with the new baby!
I thihnk if this crashed/crisis happened, we’d just deal with it. It’s nice to be all prepared, but if we forgot something, we’d be ok. We plan, we stock, we take every precaution…it’s the best we can do sometimes.

You keep us focused and motivated and energized. Everyone has so much to do in anticipation of a “less energy” future. Our transition town groups are up and organizing in Minnesota. On an individual level, expanded gardening, building a solar oven and better organization are what we aim for this sring. Best wishes to the new grandchild!

I think in life we are always waiting for something. Waiting for the mail to bring something we have ordered. I have ordered some water filters. So am waiting for those to come so I can get the water filter bucket made. I have the buckets and spikets.
Waiting for dh to come home with meat he was suppose to bring home yesterday so that I could can it. He forgot. So we went back to town to get some.
Waiting for it to warm up so I can plant the garden. And that seems like such a big thing this year. And then it will be waiting to can it.
Waiting for someone to get pregnant then waiting for the child. See we are always waiting.
Sometimes it is waiting for dinner to get done. Then of course there are those dishes to do.
Or just waiting to take a class to learn how to do something. Then trying to get all the stuff to do what you learned at the class.
Yup we are a waiting group of people. Oh and I am not a patient person.

You’ve definitely given me some food for thought with regards to preparedness. Thank you for that. All the best for the new arrival!

The impending arrival of a new baby is so rejuvenating (for those not actually birthing the baby
Waiting for the green shoots of Spring is one of those things I most wait for, but a little child’s arrival certainly tops that for me.
We were reminded of our preps with a jolt this week when my early riser husband discovered that the water main up the street was burst and a veritable river was flowing down the road. (Turns out that it had probably been flowing since 1am). Everyone jumped in- and out of the shower and took turns filling portable containers w/filtered water for the day.
(I’d just finished filling the barrels the week before). As it turns out, they didn’t shut off the water, and we were able to use our collection anyway.
Through modern media we are witnesses to such travesties where disasters strike with relentless force, and are exacerbated by inadequate preparations. But too often, what we see doesn’t quite translate to here – on the ground. I’m thankful that our water issue didn’t become one, but I’m also thankful for the close-to-home reminder.

If something happened today, we would cope with what we have. I do miss my preps that are in the storage pod, though! We moved in December and the house is still under construction, but almost done. Carol is right…always something to wait for!
I miss you when you don’t write! Community comes in many different packages.
So exciting about the baby!
